Pear-shaped meaty flesh giving firm, smooth skinned fruit. Good disease resistance. Roma has verticillium and fusarium disease resistance hence the name 'Roma VF'. Vigorous grower. Great for canning bottling and preserving. This is a low acid Italian Tomato

  • How To Sow: Choose a well drained site in full sun. Best sown into seed trays for subsequent transplanting or, after frosts, sow direct where to grow in rows 30cm apart in a well prepared seedbed. Sow seeds 5cm apart and to a depth of 1cm. Later, transplant to 50cm apart.
  • Seedling Care: Keep seedbed or trays evenly moist during the germination period of 14-21 days. Apply McGregor's FruitMax 2 weeks after germination for healthier plans and a maximum crop. Protect your vege garden from snails and slugs with McGregor's Snail and Slug bait and from White Butterfly with McGregor's Derris Dust.
  • Hints and Tips: Roma can be grown on the ground with no support, or it can be staked. Tomatoes prefer a warm climate, with ample spacing to encourage high yields. Watering the soil around the plants helps minimise fungal problems such as blight.
