- How To Sow: Choose a sheltered, well drained site in full sun. Sow these seeds in trays for subsequent transplanting or, after frosts, sow directly in a well prepared seedbed or container. Sow seeds 15 cm apart and to a depth of 1 cm. E.g. Grow 2 plants in a 40 cm diameter tub. Seedling Care: Keep the seedbed or trays evenly moist during the germination period (7-14 days). Apply vegetable fertiliser two weeks after germination for healthier plants and maximum crop. Protect your seedlings from slugs, snails and insect pests; go to mcgregors.co.nz for appropriate plant health and pest control products. Hints and Tips: To save space, plus to keep the fruit clean, allow them to grow over a trellis or similar support. This variety also does well in pots, tubs or similar containers, in warm sunny locations. An occasional light pruning of runners and old leaves helps keep the plant tidy.
