- How To Sow: Choose a sheltered, warm, well drained site in full sun. Sow these seeds in trays for subsequent transplanting or, after frosts, sow direct where to grow in a well prepared seedbed. Sow seeds 5 cm apart in rows 50 cm apart to a depth of 5 mm. Seedling Care: Keep trays evenly moist during the germination period of 14-21 days. Apply fruit fertilisers two weeks after germination for healthier plants and a maximum bloom. Protect your seedlings from slugs, snails and insect pests; go to mcgregors.co.nz for appropriate plant health and pest control products. Hints and Tips: These big plants may need shelter or staking in exposed areas. Dead head older flowers to encourage an extended flowering period. Our seeds are not treated with Neonicotinoids.
